In a surprise move, Auburn has decided to tap Gene Chizik as the next head coach of the Auburn football team. I think this is just plain silly. Chizik had a superb record as an assistant coach both at Auburn in 2004 and Texas in 2005, but as head coach, his resume is quite suspect. At Iowa State (without playing Texas, Texas Tech, or Oklahoma this year) Chizik is 5-19 in his two seasons and ended this season with a 10-game losing streak.I knew once Tuberville left, the head coaching job at Auburn would be a tough sell, but this is ridiculous. Auburn needs to remember where they came from and they should have found a more qualified coach. The Auburn athletic powers have forgotten their good football tradition. How can anyone expect Chizik to perform against Alabama or the SEC for that matter? He will not unite the fan base, he will not succeed, and he will not outperform Tuberville.

oh auburn.. the envy of the sec. why who wouldnt want to cheer for, play for or give props to a program that fires an amazing head coach who had one bad year while attempting a new offense with no quarterback. who wouldnt love a school that decides that the best way to outperform its big in-state rival who's killing people with a young young team that seems to be a beast for years to come.. is to start over with a completely new coaching staff. in fact, i do love you auburn! all those great recruits you might have gotten with tuberville are now open to coming to uga! nice!
The SEC is nuts. To think you can just start from scratch without a big name coach is insane. They will fire this guy in 2 years. I got 10 dollars on it.
The hiring of Chizik is even worse than the hiring of Petrino at Arkansas. Petrino might be an ass but he has had some success.

well he did used to coach at auburn. but im assuming this photo got charles barkley all pissed off cause i mean look at this guy.. looks like a total douche. like if you put this photo next to one of urban meyer, id struggle to decide which face to punch a hole through first. seriously. stupid auburn.
I am glad that Barkley spoke out about racism. I do think it played a part in this hiring. How in the world this guy get hired over Chizik? It makes no sense. This trend is continuing all over college football. It is a shame that there are just 3 black head coaches in BCS conferences. It is a low down dirty shame, and auburn should kick themselves in the balls or what nots.
